Problem: When I doubleclick SoundPlay, it doesn't start. Instead, I get
the message Could not open "SoundPlay" (not an executable)
Solution: You have not installed liblayout. Please download and install it.
Problem: When playing files, there is a ticking noise in the sound 1 to 2
times per second.
Solution: Open the SoundPlay preferences window, and set the preload size
to "small".
Problem: SoundPlay doesn't work as a replicant.
Solution: You need to install liblayout.so in /boot/home/config/lib in order for SoundPlay
to function as a replicant. Also make sure you don't have a second version of SoundPlay installed
somewhere on your system. You can find all installed
versions by choosing "Find" from the Deskbar, and entering this
query by formula: BEOS:APP_SIG=="application/x-vnd.marcone-soundplay".
The query should return exactly one file.
If you still can't get it to work, make sure that other replicants (Clock,
NetPositive, Pulse) work. If they don't, something else is wrong with your system.
Problem: Every 10 to 15 minutes, playing stops and then resumes.
Solution: An intentional feature. To get rid of it you need to register SoundPlay.
Problem: Every time I start SoundPlay, I get the tip-of-the-day, even
though I've disabled the "show tips at startup" checkbox.
Solution: You are using an old version of SoundPlay and have not installed PrefServer, which SoundPlay needs to
store and retrieve the preferences. Please download and install it, or upgrade to the latest SoundPlay.
Problem: I've installed PrefServer, but I still get the tip-of-the-day,
even though I've disabled the "show tips at startup" checkbox.
Solution: Try mimeset on PrefServer (or select it in the Tracker and select
"Identify" from the context-menu). If that doesn't work, you likely have
two different versions of PrefServer installed. You can find all installed
versions by choosing "Find" from the Deskbar, and entering this
query by formula: BEOS:APP_SIG=="application/x-marcone-prefserver".
The query should return exactly one file.
